Bitesized Driving Lessons IdeasIf driving lessons were compulsary, what difference would it make? What if there were a minimum number of lessons required before being permitted to take your driving test? Would driving schools be qualified to tick a box to confirm general road competence prior to test? Driving Schools Or Simply Mum And Dad?The debate has run on a long time and does not look like coming to a conclusion any time soon. The big problems are that people resist being told what to do and that nearly any legislation passed by the Government or DSA is likely to increase the financial burdon on new drivers. I have 'stuck my oar in' to the conversation as I simply do not believe that legislation should be down to keeping things easy or comfortable when it comes to dealing with peoples lives. After all, how important is an extra couple of hundred pounds spent on a driving instructor compared to someone, even 1 person being killed on the roads?. Some parents make great 'instructors' for their kids. But in reality, only a properly qualified and experience driver trainer is likely to be able to bring sufficient input as to result in the pupil being properly prepared for a life of safe driving. For example, instructors will have gone through many hours of personal training, both in driving skills and also teaching or impartation skills. Of course, proper lessons will cost more than the 'nothing' that parents cost, but surely that cost should fade into insignificance compared to your childs safety and or 'conscience impact' after killing or injuring someone else. |
