Post Test Driver Training

After many driving lessons, and much investment, you finally pass your driving test. Phew! That is the end of that. But, although understandable, is such an attitude really going to be of good sense when it comes to a long and safe driving future?

The Pass Plus Course

Bite

Pass Plus comprises of a minimum of 6 hours extra driver training covering a variety of topics such as bad weather conditions (rain, fog, ice, snow and even bright sunlight!), driving at night, driving on motorways, dual carriageways, country roads and town driving.

Following trials (I think in Wales) there has been proof that undertaking a Pass Plus course can go a significant way towards making people safer drivers, and thus reducing the number of collisions that the drivers are involved in. Such results have caught the attention of insurance companies, as they see the opportunity of having safer drivers on their books, and are therefore willing to offer reduced premiums (due to less risk involved).

Any fully qualified driving instructor can apply to teach the Pass Plus course. Once registered, they are able to sign off pupils who have taken the course with them. Generally, instructors will chare somewhere close to their normal hourly rate for a course. The cost of taking the course can sometimes be offset by the reduction in the cost of insurance - making the course effectively free!

Additionally, some local authorities offer incentives such as money towards taking a Pass Plus course.
